Carla Hinton, religion editor for the Daily Oklahoman, caught up with Wes in Judge Elliott’s courtroom to talk about the release of Amazingly Graced. Carla talked to Wes about why he wrote the book, the Terry Nichols murder trial, the Crystal Dittmeyer case, the animosity towards him at the Dr. Hamilton hearing, and even the very personal, yet public charges against his wife. Wes related how each of the events in his book point to God’s grace. Look for the article in the newspaper on December 4th and online at Newsok.com
FOR RELEASE OCTOBER 31, 2010
Wes Lane Writes Book, Holds Nothing Back
Former Oklahoma County District Attorney, Wes Lane has penned a book slated to release November 1. “Amazingly Graced; A Prosecutor Journeys Through Faith, Murder, and the Oklahoma City Bombing” is a gripping true account of some of the high profile cases tried during Lane’s time in office, a transparent look into Lane’s belief system and the significant parts of his life that shaped it, and an insightful glance into the life of him and his wife as public figures.
The pages of the book are lined with stories like the Dr. John Hamilton murder trial in which the courtroom overflowed with supporters who were confident of the accused’s innocence, the public controversy concerning the prosecution of Terry Lynn Nichols after the Oklahoma City bombing, and the short-lived victory of the case of Crystal Dittmeyer, a young girl who has yet to receive justice.
A theme of faith in God prevails throughout its pages even as Lane identifies himself as a recovering skeptic when it comes to religion. He reveals pride as his greatest downfall and seeking the approval of others as a dangerous snare. Readers will find themselves relating to the challenges this district attorney faces, experience amazement at the extent God will go to make himself known, and be captivated by the vivid courtroom scenes in which truth is exposed.
Amazingly Graced is courtroom drama at it’s finest.
Saturday, September 11th, Wes Lane will be speaking at a men’s breakfast at Western Oaks Church of the Nazarene. The event begins at 8:00 a.m. and everyone is invited to attend.
